This compressor fits 2015-2018 Volkswagen Jetta models with the 1.4L turbocharged engine (CZTA). Verify your engine code to ensure proper fitment, as different engines use different compressor designs.
Common failure modes include internal bearing wear, clutch coil burnout, and refrigerant leaks from worn seals. Contamination from other failed A/C components can also damage the compressor internally.
It’s recommended to replace the receiver/drier and expansion valve when installing a used compressor. The system should also be flushed to remove any contamination that may have caused the original failure.
The exact oil quantity depends on what was removed from your old compressor. Typically 3-6 ounces of PAG oil is required, but measure what comes out of your old unit for best results.
You’ll need A/C recovery equipment, basic hand tools, a torque wrench, and access to refrigerant for recharging. Professional A/C service equipment is recommended for proper evacuation and recharge procedures.
Check that the clutch engages when 12V is applied to the coil, the pulley spins freely, and there are no visible oil leaks or damage. The compressor should have been stored with sealed ports to prevent contamination.
