After you sell your vehicle, your registration is no longer valid. You should contact your local DMV or RMV to cancel it or transfer it to another car. This step prevents future property tax bills or renewal notices from being sent for a vehicle you no longer own.
In New Hampshire, if you are transferring your plates to a new car, your registration can be updated immediately at your town clerk’s office. In Massachusetts, if you are not transferring your plates, you can cancel your registration online or in person and may even qualify for an insurance refund.
603 Auto Salvage does not keep or use your registration once the sale is complete. We only require it as proof of ownership if the vehicle is title-exempt. Once the transaction is finalized, the registration is no longer active, and all liability for the vehicle transfers to us.
We encourage every customer to complete this final step for peace of mind and proper documentation.
