Are VIN tags included on parts?

Whenever possible, yes. VIN tags are small identification stickers or plates attached to many major vehicle components, such as doors, hoods, fenders, engines, and transmissions. They’re used to verify authenticity and track where a part originated. At 603 Auto Salvage, we make every effort to leave VIN tags intact during dismantling whenever it’s legally permitted and safe to do so. We understand that many customers — especially repair shops, insurance adjusters, and dealerships — value having those tags visible as proof that the part is genuine and sourced responsibly.

When a vehicle arrives at our yard, we document its VIN and assign internal part numbers that link back to that original record. If a part retains a factory tag or stamp, it remains on the component when sold. This maintains transparency and traceability. For example, if you purchase a door, it will often still have the small OEM sticker inside the jamb showing the original VIN and manufacturing details.

It’s important to note that for certain safety or privacy reasons, we may be required to remove or obscure partial VIN digits before resale, particularly on sensitive items like frames or electronic control modules. In those cases, we still record and keep full documentation internally, so the part’s origin is traceable even if the full VIN isn’t displayed on the item.
